Space needs better thermal management. We are building it with Zoppas.

Last week, we joined Zoppas Industries Heating Element Technologies Industries at CES Unveiled Milan, the European preview of CES 2027. At the Zoppas booth, Nicola Paoletto and Alessio Bertrami presented our thermal management technology to innovators, engineers, and industry leaders. Satellites face the same challenge as AI hardware on Earth: intense heat in a tight space, with no room for error. In the words of my co-founder Maurizio Miozza, our mission is to revolutionize thermal management. Space applications are also part of that mission.

Manfred Markevitch
Co-Founder and CEO

AI infrastructure is moving to the edge. The heat comes with it.

This month, EPFL EcoCloud invited Maurizio Miozza to speak about this shift at its Annual Event in Lausanne. The audience was several hundred researchers, industry leaders, and investors. Organizations want AI closer to their data: on site, under their control, with lower latency. But edge sites rarely have large chillers or spare water. The answer has to start at the chip. At GemaTEG, we manage temperature precisely where and when it matters: each GPU and each HBM memory stack, independently. I shared the research results from our technology ecosystem, including DaTEG® 2.0 and Supervisor™ to show how it works. We power our newest product, GemaPOD™, with that same technology. GemaPOD™ is a complete edge data center, built from the chip up, with thermal management that needs no water.

Who said AI is only terrestrial?

This week, Maurizio and I were in Salt Lake City for the Small Satellite Conference (SmallSat), one of the largest gatherings in the small satellite world. We came to meet partners and clients, and to look closely at a market that is becoming impossible to ignore. Space is the next frontier for AI infrastructure. Satellites face the same challenge we solve on the ground: heat. Thermal management in space is hard, critical, and far from solved. As AI moves closer to the edge, and the edge moves into orbit, that challenge only grows. The opportunity is early. The market is young. The overlap between AI and space is still taking shape. That is exactly why we went looking now, rather than waiting for it to come to us.

Heat transfer brought two of our engineers to Seattle. Knowledge transfer is what they took home.

Last week, Gianmarco Corbucci and Alessio Bertrami presented two technical papers at the ASME 2026 Summer Heat Transfer Conference. They traveled from our Perugia engineering team office to be there. The papers covered the core of our work: our TTV (Thermal Test Vehicle) approach to 3D thermal measurement at the chip level, and the differential cooling that powers our DaTEG® 2.0 product. They came to share our work. They left with much more. The conference put them in a room with experts who speak the same technical language and understand the true stakes behind what we build. - They fielded deep questions. - They demonstrated our level of expertise. - They deepened their own knowledge of thermal management and heat transfer across new areas of application. - And they made contacts that will help expand our product capabilities.

Frontier physics needs infrastructure that can keep up. GemaPOD™ is answering this call.

Last week in Perugia, we officially launched GemaPOD™ as the engine of PERSEO: Perugia Sustainable Edge Open Data. It is a new kind of AI infrastructure that we built to be efficient, modular, and sovereign by design. PERSEO is built by a coalition between UNIVERSITA' DEGLI STUDI DI PERUGIA - DIPARTIMENTO DI FISICA, the Comune di Perugia, E4 Computer Engineering, and GemaTEG. We signed the agreement together to create an ecosystem to welcome new startups, research centers, and industry partners over time.

No one builds sustainable AI alone.

Last week, during the #PNWClimateWeek, my co-founder, Maurizio Miozza, joined the panel "Power, Cooling & Intelligence" hosted by Ashurst Perkins Coie and the Pacific Northwest Battery Collaborative One word came back all evening: ECOSYSTEM. Too many conversations about AI end the same way. Too much power. Too much water. Time for a moratorium. At GemaTEG, we see it differently. AI is the opportunity of our generation. But only if the infrastructure keeps up.

Jamie Boyd is joining GemaTEG's Advisory Board.

We could not be happier about it. He will focus on capital planning and strategic growth as we scale. Jamie is Founder and Managing Partner Cypress Capital Holdings, LLC, based in Seattle. Before that, he spent over 20 years at Cascadia, where he built one of the most successful investment banking franchises in the middle market focused on Energy Transition and Climate Technologies. AI infrastructure is now an energy problem, a capital problem, and a compute problem at the same time.

Manfred Markevitch
Co-Founder and CEO

Building fast is not the same as building right.

The US is behind on data center capacity. Operators are under pressure to deliver fast, to meet demand from the agentic AI revolution. The race is real. But speed creates blind spots. Next-generation chips are pushing thermal limits beyond what conventional designs were built to handle. Power and water constraints are no longer just engineering concerns. They are strategic risks. The infrastructure choices made today will define what is possible, or impossible, five years from now. I am not saying anyone is doing it wrong. I am saying it is worth pausing to ask better questions.

Manfred Markevitch
Co-Founder and CEO

Three years later, the work has changed.

NCW Tech Alliance recently hosted its 2026 Flywheel investment conference. Tim Carlsen and Guillaume Wiatr represented GemaTEG while Maurizio Miozza and I were overseeing the expansion of our production capabilities. Flywheel 2023 awarded us $150,000 and gave us a community we have supported every year since. As guest speakers in 2024. As attendees in 2025. And again this year. Because some conversations only happen in person, and because our investors deserve more than the silence most startups offer once the check clears.

Manfred Markevitch
Co-Founder and CEO

We are scaling commercial operations in North America.

Tim Carlsen joins GemaTEG as VP Business Development to lead our US market expansion. His focus is on bringing GemaTEG’s thermal management solutions to data centers facing challenges like future-proofing for next-generation chips, reducing OpEx costs, and unlocking trapped compute. Tim brings deep experience in corporate business development, emerging technologies, and green energy infrastructure. His track record in M&A, strategic partnerships, and commercialization of sustainable solutions positions us to accelerate market penetration. This addition shows where we are: Product deployed. Demo facilities live. Commercial traction building. Now we're scaling the team to match the opportunity.

Manfred Markevitch
Co-Founder and CEO

AI infrastructure is the bottleneck. We deployed the solution.

Maurizio and I recently sat down for an interview with GeekWire to discuss what we've built and why it matters now. We shared our experience building our demo facilities in Seattle and Italy, and delivering our product at Sandia National Laboratories, CERN and Leonardo. Our technology is live in critical datacenters and delivers results. Here are the three market realities our customers are dealing with: - Heat is the bottleneck limiting AI performance today - Future-proofing is key because new chiplet generations arrive faster than the industry can keep up. - Cloud repatriation is accelerating as organizations demand data sovereignty Our solution addresses all three. We keep microprocessors at maximum performance while building infrastructure that adapts as chip technology evolves

Manfred Markevitch
Co-Founder and CEO at GemaTEG

Two years of work. One product. Market-ready.

DaTEG® 2.0 is here. Our teams in Perugia, Seattle, and Switzerland built the next-generation GemaTEG active thermal management system. Patented. Tested for over a year. Designed for the next generations of AI chips. Here's why you should care: The agentic revolution everyone is betting on runs on physical infrastructure. Chips are getting hotter, denser, and more complex. The traditional cooling solutions designed for the last era cannot keep up.

Manfred Markevitch
Co-Founder and CEO

Africa is building its AI future, and we are helping make it happen.

Last week, we hosted a delegation of African business leaders and entrepreneurs at GemaTEG Seattle. Representatives from Morocco, Algeria, Togo, Benin, Côte d'Ivoire, Ethiopia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Uganda visited us to explore collaborations in AI infrastructure. They made their requirements clear. They are building AI capabilities locally, without relying on external cloud providers. They prioritize data sovereignty in their strategy. Sustainability matters to them. They are preparing for the agentic revolution, but on their own terms. Our GemaPOD product exactly meets these criteria. Harsh environments. Data sovereignty. Sustainable infrastructure (low water usage). Local deployment.

Panama is now GemaTEG's third regional hub.

Last week, Youri Markevitch and I were in Panama City to meet with investors, commercial lenders, potential customers, and a network of global entrepreneurs. The trip delivered results. Thank you to Jean-Pierre Wegener for making these connections possible. In the past, some VCs told us our fragmented cap table was a liability. We disagree. Our global network of individual investors, entrepreneurs and family offices who are vested in our success is a strategic asset. They make introductions. They open doors. They actively drive business development across the regions we are building in. Panama proved it.

Manfred Markevitch
Co-Founder and CEO

We are building momentum in Seattle, one demo at a time.

This Tuesday, we hosted an other demo evening at the GemaTEG office in Fremont. Around 15 people joined us: industry experts from the data center world, local business leaders including @Pete Hanning from the @Fremont Chamber of Commerce, and people who understand what's really at stake in the AI infrastructure race. The highlight? We showed real-time data from something new we are working on in our production facility. We are calling it GemaPOD. We can't say much more yet, but the room got it immediately.

"AI runs on hardware !"

This week at GeekWire's Agents of Transformation, the focus was clear: Vertical AI systems (for legal, compliance, regulated industries, and more). Autonomous agents that deliver real productivity gains, not just demos. But there's a bottleneck more people want to discuss:

Speed or quality? In data centers, you can't pick one

Startups don't have to choose between speed and quality—we built both from day one. Speed or quality? In data centers, you can't pick one. Our team just published an article on something unusual for a startup: building operational excellence on two tracks simultaneously: · Efficiency for speed and cost. · Efficacy for quality and compliance.

Strong start to the year for the GemaTEG engineering team

We have been accepted to present two technical papers at the ASME 2026 Summer Heat Transfer Conference (SHTC 2026) in Seattle this July. Both papers, submitted by Gianmarco Corbucci and Alessio Bertrami, build directly on our patented work and our approach to thermal measurement (TTV: Thermal Test Vehicle).

CME outage explained

CME outage explained. Most people think the CME outage was a one-off failure. It wasn’t. It was a signal. On Friday, November 28, 2025, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) experienced a system outage caused by a cooling failure. For 10 hours, the world’s most critical financial markets stopped!

The next bottleneck in AI is not compute. It is heat.

The next bottleneck in AI is not compute. It is heat. Chip power keeps climbing. AI systems are running hot, with little margin left. Passive cooling is no longer enough. Managing temperature at AI scale is no longer about removing heat after the fact. It is about controlling it, where and when it matters.
