GemaTEG and EPFL-EcoCloud Intensify Collaboration

Continued focus on the next generation of Thermal Management solutions, as part of the EcoCloud, to advance computing power while decreasing the drain on environmental resources resulting from the AI revolution

Bellevue, WA, United States & Lausanne, Switzerland, July1st, 2024 - GemaTEG™, a leading technology innovator driving thermal management advancements in Artificial Intelligence infrastructure ("AI"),and Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne ("EPFL"), one of the most prominent technical universities, are deepening their collaborative efforts regarding the relationship between thermal management and microprocessor performance.  These efforts are part of both organizations' participation in EcoCloud, a consortium of high-profile companies and institutions seeking to optimize large cloud computing environments sustainably.

"At EPFL, we continue to identify innovative solutions that optimize workloads of the next-gen chips for cloud and AI servers," said Babak Falsafi, Professor of Computer and Communication Sciences at EPFL. "Our work with Maurizio Miozza, co-founder and CCO of GemaTEG™, and the GemaTEG™ engineering team has revealed significant new advancements in thermal management and its impact on processing power as the world rapidly evolves into the data center expansion and AI paradigm."

GemaTEG™ is applying its extensive knowledge of the properties of silicon and fluid dynamics to address the fundamental limitations of microchip performance and resource consumption.  More specifically, extensive testing reveals that the effective deployment of innovative thermal management solutions can enable processing output to achieve the design specifications of each chip without concern for overheating or damage. In addition, the research reveals that the deployment of advanced thermal management solutions can also decrease resource consumption, leading to efficiency gains of approximately 50%.

"We are proud to collaborate with Babak Falsafi and his team to help advance and optimize the next generation of sustainable data centers," commented Maurizio Miozza. Through our learnings with EPFL, and participation in EcoCloud, we believe we are developing the most innovative thermal management solutions that go beyond simple chip cooling, maximizing the effectiveness and efficiency at the most fundamental level: chip performance."

GemaTEG™ is looking forward to participate in the 2024 EcoCloud Industry Affiliate Program Annual Event on October 8th in Lausanne.
